Alamogordo Veterans Day Parade 2026: Route, Time, Entries

The Alamogordo Veterans Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, on 10th Street, starting at Cuba Avenue and ending at Maryland Avenue. It's free to watch, and groups, businesses, schools and families can still sign up to march or ride in it. Entries are due by Thursday, November 5.

This is one of my favorite mornings of the year. In a town with Holloman right next door, almost everyone on the curb knows someone who has served, and you can feel it.

When and where is the Veterans Day Parade?

The details come from the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce, which lists the date, time and route, and the parade's online sign-up form, which says the parade is sponsored by AFSA, the Air Force Sergeants Association.

How do I enter a float or group in the parade?

The easiest way is the 2026 Veterans Day Parade sign-up form. You'll give your organization's name, a contact person, a phone number, an address, an email, your entry category and a short description of your entry, including vehicle length if you know it.

You can enter in one of five categories:

• Animal
• Marching unit, musical
• Marching unit, non musical
• Float
• Motorized unit

Get your entry in by November 5. The form says entries that come in after the deadline will be placed at the very end of the parade line. If you need help, the form lists (575) 437-6120 for questions.

What happens on parade morning?

Entries check in at the corner of 10th Street and Oregon Avenue between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. to pick up a spot number. The organizers say they will also try to email placement numbers the night before. The parade starts promptly at 10 a.m., so plan to be lined up and ready.

What are the parade rules for entries?

The sign-up form lists a few safety rules every entry agrees to:

• No throwing. Nothing can be thrown from floats or entries. Walkers can hand items out directly.
• Animals. Any horse or animal entry needs a dedicated "pooper scooper" person right behind it.
• Vehicles. Every motorized vehicle needs a copy of a valid insurance card on hand.
• Kids. Children under 18 must either ride or walk, not both, and must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Submitting the form also means agreeing to the liability waiver printed on it.

What else is happening that day?

The same Saturday, the Alamogordo White Sands Regional Airport holds its free open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so you can catch the parade and then head out to the airport. What does this mean if you live here or are moving here?

If you just PCSed to Holloman or moved to town, a parade like this is one of the quickest ways to feel at home. Bring a lawn chair and a coffee, grab a spot along 10th Street, and wave to the veterans and everyone marching in their honor.
