White Sands Mall Halloween Events 2026 in Alamogordo
Published 17 October 2026
The White Sands Mall in Alamogordo has four fun Halloween season events coming up: a pet costume contest on Tuesday, October 20, a free pumpkin carving and decorating contest with entries due Thursday, October 22, a cat and kitten adoption day on Saturday, October 24, and Trick or Treat at the Mall on Saturday, October 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. Here is what to know about each one.
This is one of my favorite kinds of small town fun. It is indoors, it is easy with little ones, and a couple of these events help local animals too.

The Pet Costume Contest is Tuesday, October 20, at 6 p.m., and proceeds benefit Alamogordo Animal Control. Pre-register at the mall office by 4:30 p.m. that day. The first 20 registered entries get a special pet goodie bag.

It is free. Carve, paint or decorate your pumpkin any way you like, then drop it off at the White Sands Mall office by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 22. There is a youth category for ages 12 and under and an adult category for ages 13 and up.
Pumpkins go on display near Center Court starting October 23, and people vote in person and on the mall's Facebook page. Winners are announced Monday, October 26.

Can I adopt a cat at the White Sands Mall?
Yes. Cats and kittens from local rescue partners and Alamogordo Animal Control will be at the mall on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The mall's listing says adoptions include spay or neuter and vaccinations, fees start at $45 for senior cats, and a microchip is $5. Call the mall office to confirm fees before you go.
When is Trick or Treat at the Mall?
Trick or Treat at the Mall is Saturday, October 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. An indoor trick or treat is a great option for little ones and for families who want a warm, well-lit stop on Halloween night.

What does this mean for people moving to Alamogordo?
Events like these are a big part of why families settle in so quickly here. You do not have to drive to Las Cruces or El Paso for a fun, safe Halloween, and you will see your neighbors at every one of these. If you are new to town, it is an easy way to start feeling at home. My moving to Alamogordo guide has more on everyday life here.
