Thanksgiving Meal Help in Alamogordo 2026
Published 2 November 2026

Last updated: 2 November 2026
If you could use a little help with food this Thanksgiving, Alamogordo has options. The Alamo Senior Center serves a Thanksgiving lunch on Friday, November 20, for adults 60 and over, and there are free mobile food pantries on November 4 and November 25 plus church pantries and free hot meals all month. I will keep adding community dinners, turkey giveaways and food box sign-ups to this page as they are announced, so check back often.

A few notes. For the Boles Acres pantry, the White Sands Rotary Club lists an 8 a.m. start, while the Chamber calendar shows 8:30 to 10 a.m., so plan to arrive early. I wrote about the October distribution in my Boles Acres food distribution post. The Alamo Senior Center menu for November 20 is turkey and ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry relish, a roll and pumpkin pie.
Are there free community Thanksgiving dinners or turkey giveaways?
Not yet announced. As of today, I have not found a 2026 community Thanksgiving dinner, turkey giveaway or holiday food box sign-up in Alamogordo, Tularosa, La Luz, Cloudcroft or at Holloman. Sign-ups for these often open in early to mid November and can fill up fast, so I will add each one here, with its deadline, as soon as I can confirm it.
What help is there in Tularosa and La Luz?
These are regular weekly or monthly pantries from the same NMSU guide. Call ahead to confirm holiday week hours.
- Tularosa Community Church, 101 Central Ave., Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to noon.
- St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, 704 St. Francis Dr., Tularosa, Wednesdays, 3 to 5 p.m.
- Our Lady of the Light, 4 La Luz Rd., La Luz, the 2nd through 4th Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
What help is there for seniors and Holloman families?
The Alamo Senior Center serves lunch Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for adults 60 and over and their spouses, and it runs a home-delivered meal program for homebound seniors. The center is closed on holidays, and its November menu shows no meals on November 26 and 27, so plan ahead for Thanksgiving week. Call (575) 439-4150.
For Holloman families, the Military and Family Readiness Center at (575) 572-7754 can connect you with Air Force Aid Society emergency help and financial counseling. Anything on base requires base access.
How can I help others this Thanksgiving?
- Donate food. The Salvation Army is asking for canned fruit, meat and vegetables, cereal, rice, noodles, dry beans, peanut butter, juice and bottled water at 1900 E. 1st St.
- Drive for seniors. The Alamo Senior Center needs volunteer drivers to deliver meals on weekdays between 10:30 a.m. and noon, with mileage reimbursed at $0.76 a mile. Call (575) 439-4150.
- Support a fundraiser. Love INC's Casino and Murder Mystery Night is Saturday, November 14, at 6 p.m. at Desert Lakes Golf Course, with $40 tickets at LoveInc.org.
My fall volunteer guide has more ways to pitch in.
Are you hosting a free meal or giveaway?
If your church, business or nonprofit is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal, a turkey giveaway or a food box distribution, I would love to add it. Send me the details: the date, time, address, who can come and how to sign up.
What does this mean for neighbors and newcomers?
Thanksgiving week changes a lot of routines. Alamogordo Public Schools are out November 23 to 27, which my school days off guide covers, and the city says Thursday trash routes will be picked up on Wednesday, November 25. If you are new to town, these pantries and churches are also a good way to meet people and find your place in the community.
